Mid-size venues ideal for celebrations and corporate events

Featuring venues with capacity for 40-60 guests.

About Event Venues for 50 Guests

Fifty guests is one of the most versatile group sizes in NYC event planning, and in 2026 the city has no shortage of venues built exactly for this moment. Whether you are throwing a milestone birthday, launching a product, or pulling your team together for an offsite, the 40 to 60 person range hits a sweet spot where the energy feels alive but the room never feels anonymous. From Tribeca to Williamsburg to Greenpoint, this collection brings together some of the most distinct mid-size spaces the five boroughs have to offer, each with private or semi-private sections that can comfortably hold your crew without requiring a full venue buyout. The result is a lineup that works equally well for the polished corporate crowd and the friend group that wants something genuinely memorable.

Expert Tip

When planning for exactly 50 guests, pay close attention to section-level capacity rather than total venue capacity. Little More in Tribeca, for example, offers its Entire Back Area Upstairs for up to 65 guests as a private section with a minimum spend starting at $500, making it one of the most affordable private options in lower Manhattan for this group size. Booking a defined section like this gives you the intimacy of a private event while keeping costs far more manageable than a full venue buyout.

Venue Selection Guide

The Complete 2026 Guide to Booking a 50-Person Event Venue in NYC

Choosing the Right Space for Your Event Type

The nature of your event should drive your venue choice before anything else. For a corporate offsite or team celebration, a versatile space like Everything's Jake in Union Square or The Farm SoHo Loft on Broadway offers the flexibility to shift between presentation mode and cocktail-party energy. If your group leans more social and celebratory, atmospherically rich venues like Little More in Tribeca, with its 45-foot marble bar and botanical murals, or Velvet Brooklyn in Williamsburg, with its exposed brick and disco ball, bring that wow factor guests remember. For something truly unconventional, Sugar Mouse in the East Village offers a 360-degree immersive AI-powered environment, while Loft Story in Greenpoint lets you book just the Speakeasy for an intimate VIP-style gathering for up to 60.

Understanding Your Budget and Minimum Spends

Minimum spends across these venues vary dramatically, so aligning your budget early is essential. On the more accessible end, Grace and Ruby's in Williamsburg has a minimum spend of just $75, and Sugar Mouse starts at $90, making them strong options for casual celebrations or happy hours with tighter budgets. Mid-range options like Resobox in the East Village at $250, Velvet Brooklyn at $125, and Loft Story at $360 offer solid value with strong included amenities. If you are planning a more elevated experience, venues like Apotheke Chinatown and The Ten Bells carry minimum spends of $3,334 and $3,500 respectively, which is worth factoring in early, especially for corporate entertainment where those costs may be offset by a company budget.

Timing Your Booking and Event for Maximum Impact

For 2026, securing popular NYC venues three to six months in advance is strongly recommended, especially for Friday and Saturday nights. If your event is corporate, consider Thursday evenings, which often have better availability and lower minimum spends than weekend bookings. Venues like The Farm SoHo Loft and Resobox, which are also used for daytime meetings and workshops, may offer more flexible weekday windows. Rooftop spaces like 230 Fifth and The Lookup are highly seasonal, so spring and early fall are the most competitive booking periods and require the most lead time.

Key Questions to Ask Before You Commit

Always confirm whether the section you are booking is fully private, semi-private, or shared with the general public, as this varies significantly even within the same venue. For example, Little More offers a range of fully private sections from 35 to 150 guests, giving you real flexibility, while the LES Spacious Art Gallery's single section is listed as semi-private. Ask whether outside catering is permitted, which is a major factor at raw spaces like The Farm SoHo Loft and Resobox, both of which welcome it. Also clarify what AV equipment is included versus available for an additional fee, especially if you need a projector or microphone for a presentation or performance, as venues like Grace and Ruby's and Resobox both include these.

Neighborhood-Specific Tips for Your Guests

Union Square and the East Village are the easiest neighborhoods for guests commuting from across the boroughs, with Everything's Jake sitting one block from the L, N, Q, R, W, 4, 5, and 6 lines. Tribeca venues like Little More are accessible via the 1, 2, 3, A, and C trains at Chambers Street, but keep in mind the neighborhood quiets down early, so late-night energy can feel more exclusive. Greenpoint has exploded in 2026 as an event destination, with both Tørst and Loft Story sitting near the Nassau Ave G train stop, and the proximity to McCarren Park makes it a great area for guests who want to explore before or after. For a Brooklyn bar vibe, Velvet Brooklyn in Williamsburg sits near both the J, M, Z at Marcy Ave and the L at Bedford Ave, giving it strong cross-borough access.

Insider Recommendations by Event Style

For a product launch or brand activation in 2026, Little More in Tribeca and BarChef New York in the NoMad area both offer the kind of visual drama that photographs well and impresses industry guests. For a team offsite that needs to balance work and fun, The Farm SoHo Loft comes equipped with a projector, screen, AV system, microphones, and video conferencing capability, making the transition from workshop to celebration seamless. If you want a dinner-forward experience, Third Falcon in Fort Greene brings a fine-dining pedigree with Northern French cuisine in an intimate full-venue buyout for up to 70 guests, while Apotheke Chinatown offers bespoke cocktail programs with over 250 house-designed recipes for groups up to 100. For the most unique experience on this list, Sugar Mouse in the East Village or Loft Story's projection-mapped main loft will leave your guests talking well into 2026.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Event Venues for 50 Guests

What is the minimum spend range I should budget for a 50-person event across these venues?
Minimum spends vary widely depending on the venue and neighborhood. Grace and Ruby's in Williamsburg starts as low as $75, while raw loft spaces like Resobox in the East Village and The Farm SoHo Loft start at $150 to $250. On the higher end, The Ten Bells on the Lower East Side requires a $3,500 minimum and Apotheke Chinatown comes in at $3,334, reflecting their premium cocktail programs and exclusive atmospheres. Setting your budget early helps narrow down which borough and vibe makes the most sense for your group.
Which venues in this collection are best suited for a corporate team offsite for around 50 people?
The Farm SoHo Loft on Broadway in SoHo is a strong pick for corporate offsites, offering 50 chairs, a projector and screen, video conferencing on request, and fiber-optic internet in a private 1,000 square foot loft. Everything's Jake near Union Square has a dedicated private area for 50 guests across more than 4,000 square feet of flexible space just steps from the L, 4, 5, 6, N, Q, and R trains. Resobox in the East Village is another practical option, with Wi-Fi, tables and chairs included, a whiteboard, and a BYO catering policy that keeps costs flexible for daytime working sessions.
Are there venues in outer boroughs that can handle a 50-person private event without a huge minimum spend?
Yes, several Brooklyn and Queens options are well suited for mid-size groups on a reasonable budget. Velvet Brooklyn in Williamsburg offers a private Main Bar for up to 50 guests with a minimum spend of just $125, complete with AV equipment, a disco ball, and handcrafted cocktails. Grace and Ruby's, also in Williamsburg, fits 60 guests for a full venue rental with a $75 minimum and comes equipped with a projector, PA system, and a rotating beer tap. In Astoria, Queens, the Clubhouse at Astoria World Manor holds up to 60 guests privately with a $100 minimum and a semi-outdoor atmosphere that works well for casual celebrations.
Which venues offer a truly unique or immersive environment that will make a 50-person party feel special in 2026?
Sugar Mouse in the East Village stands out with its 360-degree immersive environment powered by over 40 projectors and AI technology that can sync music and visuals, and its Main Dancefloor section holds up to 60 guests semi-privately. Loft Story in Greenpoint features a Speakeasy space for up to 60 guests alongside 3D projection mapping in the main loft and a rooftop with skyline views of the Empire State Building and Freedom Tower. Little More in Tribeca offers a 45-foot marble bar beneath a 16-foot spirit library, custom serpent murals, and a botanical wall, with sections like the Entire Back Area Upstairs fitting up to 65 guests privately.
Which venue is the best choice for a 50-person event focused on exceptional cocktails?
Apotheke Chinatown on Doyers Street is hard to beat for cocktail-forward events, with mixologists in lab coats working from a library of over 250 house-designed recipes and more than 500 premium spirits, though its full buyout minimum of $3,334 reflects that premium experience. BarChef New York in Nomad brings modernist cocktail techniques using advanced culinary methods and fresh botanicals, with a large party reservation section for up to 40 guests semi-privately or a full buyout for up to 125. Little More in Tribeca is worth noting too, as its cocktail program is led by mixologists formerly of Apotheke, and its Entire Back Area Upstairs fits up to 65 guests privately with a modest $500 minimum spend.
What should I look for when choosing between a restaurant buyout and a bar or lounge rental for a 50-person celebration?
Restaurant buyouts like Third Falcon in Fort Greene or Saint in the East Village prioritize a full dining experience, with Third Falcon's Northern French cuisine coming from an Eleven Madison Park and Crown Shy alum and a full venue buyout for up to 70 guests at a $1,000 minimum. Bar and lounge rentals like Velvet Brooklyn or Everything's Jake near Union Square tend to offer more flexibility in format, allowing you to mix standing cocktail reception style with seated areas, and they often have lower minimums that make the per-person cost easier to manage. If your group wants a sit-down dinner as the centerpiece, go restaurant; if mingling, dancing, and drink-forward programming matter more, a lounge or bar rental will serve you better.
Are there 50-person venue options with outdoor or rooftop space in this collection?
A few venues in this collection offer outdoor elements worth considering for 2026 events. Loft Story in Greenpoint has a 2,000 square foot Rooftop Terrace for up to 80 guests privately, furnished with lounge seating, umbrellas, and hammocks, with views of the Empire State Building and Freedom Tower. The Astoria World Manor Clubhouse in Queens provides a semi-outdoor atmosphere in a private space for up to 60 guests, giving a more relaxed open-air feel than a traditional indoor venue. Saint in the East Village also offers a Secret Garden, an ivy-enclosed outdoor space with twinkling lights and vintage furniture that can hold up to 80 guests privately for intimate receptions or dinners.

Beautiful venue with some of the best cocktails I ever tried. I went to two events at this venue when it just opened in November and I will be back

I attended two events in this space during NY Tech Week, and it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere and vibe were excellent, with plenty of games, areas to chat, a stage, beverages, and big, fun graphics on the walls. Highly recommend this venue for events!

Incredible food, experience, atmosphere, and staff. My favorite dish was the Rose Rigatoni. I really wanted to order a second one but had to hold back lol. We also tried the Fried Rice, Kimchi Jigae, and the Burger & Fries. Everything was packed with flavor, and the staff were attentive, kind, and completely on point. Ohhh, don't forget to leave some room for them honey pancakes. And definitely don't miss their happy hour 3PM - 6PM if you're in the area. I'll definitely be back to try some other things on the menu.

I hosted an audio visual show at Loft Story and it was amazing. The projection and sound set up is incredible and turns any event into a rich, experience. The staff was super friendly and accommodating to all the various needs that required my event to go seamlessly!

I booked a private sushi making class with a group of friends. This was a great experience. We had several options to choose from. Instructor was attentive.
