Havana's El Barrio Chino
Description
Calle Dao is a Chinese Cuban Fusion Restaurant concept designed to pay homage to Havana's once-thriving El Barrio Chino (Chinatown). El Barrio Chino occupied 44 square blocks of real estate in the late 1870s. As the Cuban and Chinese cultures mixed, a unique fusion of cuisine emerged.
The cuisine, cocktails, and décor of Calle Dão strive to transport your guests back to El Barrio Chino when it was at the height of its existence. Calle Dão created mouthwatering dishes seamlessly blending Cuban staples with Asian flavors. The cocktails, created by Mixologist Joy Daniel, also meld the old world with the new, using historical names for libations with modern ingredients. Calle Dáo’s décor, the creation of its owner Marco Britti (Favela Cubana), is reminiscent of a sultry, old-world Havana restaurant with white-washed walls, distressed wood, and whirring ceiling fans. Chinese artwork, spices, and bright colors provide the accents.
Step into a bygone era and enjoy a modern dining experience at Calle Dão for your next event!

Awesome low-key place...
by Rob Pendell
Awesome low-key place. We've gone several times for lunch & dinner, and we loved it so much we had a Welcome Party for guests of our wedding there. From their management to their servers, the personnel are awesome, and the food is amazing. Several of our guests agreed with us - best cauliflower we've ever had. Special place
Calle Dao in Bryant Park is...
by Edgardo Rodriguez
Calle Dao in Bryant Park is a hidden gem that masterfully blends Cuban and Chinese flavors into dishes that feel both innovative and harmonious. Each recipe seemed meticulously planned, and the way the flavors worked together was impressive—delivering a dining experience that was both surprising and satisfying. The atmosphere is equally remarkable, with a vibrant yet comfortable ambiance that makes you feel instantly at ease. The music sets the perfect tone for the evening, and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. A special mention has to go to the manager, Jessica, who is absolutely the most wonderful person. She was incredibly attentive to us, especially because we were there for a tasting, as we’re considering booking the restaurant for our wedding. Her warmth and attention to detail made our experience all the more special, and we left feeling confident in our choice. Overall, I’d rate Calle Dao a 9 out of 10—a fantastic place to dine, with great food, atmosphere, and exceptional service. Highly recommended!
Had a fantastic dinner here...
by Victor Wang
Had a fantastic dinner here. Got some oysters, mixed greens salad, squid ink paella, confit duck, pulled pork/beef sliders. Everything was extremely tasty. The oysters and the seafood paella were both standout dishes with fresh ingredients as the highlight. Didn't have reservations and were still able to be seated as a party of 3 during a Wednesday afternoon.
